Religion is a necessary construct of the human condition. Throughout the course of human history, nearly every human being has belonged to some set of beliefs, whether religious, political, social, or economic. The god they serve is not important to this argument. What is important is their unwillingness to step outside of the stricture which has encompassed their beliefs.
As history has unfolded, what has caused the problems we as a species have endured. For nearly all of the 2nd millennium we human beings fought amongst ourselves with mandate from some higher power to rationalize our destructive and strictly human behavior. Whether this be the Crusades and their mandate's from Allah, Jesuah, or God, the Roman Empire and their mandate from their Caesar, the Brits, the French, the Spaniards, the Portuguese, the Dutch, or the Germans and their mandates from the East India Trading Company, God, or the King or Queen. All of these human creations caused destruction around the planet in many forms.
So how is it, after 10,000+ years of human infighting, death, and destruction, that we as a sentient species have not managed to find a common ground when so many obvious solutions are visible in our daily lives? Space, your fellow man, the beauty all around us, all of these are viable and respectable unifying arguments for our species and yet we have decimated our space program, kill our fellow man, and raze the very ground we need to survive.
Now, in the 3rd millennium, our leaders continue the mistakes of human history. They manipulate the ignorant, the stupid, or the vicious into feeling they must kill or cut throats to survive. The leaders of today, whether American, Iranian, Israeli, British, Chinese, or Russian all strive for greatness through the conquering of another sector of the population. When will we realize we can work together to achieve greater things?
When will we stop fighting and reach another planet? When will we stop being the selfish and arrogant young species we have proven to be time and time again? My friends it is time to unite against the maniacal tyranny of bad thought and progress to a time of unification. It is a time to bring our collective merit together into one progressive machine comprised of many unique and contributing peoples.
It is time we showed the universe our collective potential.
